Mastering Card Counting Skills

Card counting is a skill that requires both mathematical understanding and practical training. This trainer helps you develop the speed, accuracy, and mental discipline needed to count cards effectively in real casino conditions. Professional card counters can maintain perfect accuracy while counting at speeds of 600+ cards per minute.

Keyboard: Space pauses (or deals the next card in the speed drill), 14 answer, Esc ends the session.

Essential Counting Skills

Speed Development

Build counting speed gradually from 200 to 600+ cards per minute while maintaining accuracy.

Practise with the Speed drill above — it times you over the whole shoe and records your cards-per-minute best.

Accuracy Maintenance

Achieve and maintain 99%+ accuracy even under pressure and distractions.

Every drill scores your answers and flags the card ranks you miss most, so you can see where the count slips.

Mental Discipline

Develop focus and concentration to count for extended periods without losing track.

Use the Running count drill at Casino speed over a 6–8 deck shoe for a realistic test of stamina.

True Count Conversion

Master rapid conversion from running count to true count in multi-deck games.

The True count and Deck estimation drills train the two halves of this separately — the division, and judging how much of the shoe is left.

Counting System Comparison

All seven systems below are playable in the trainer above. Betting correlation (BC) measures how well a count predicts when to raise your bet; playing efficiency (PE) measures how well it guides individual decisions. Figures are the standard published values and are approximate — no single number decides which count suits you. A system you can run flawlessly at table speed beats a stronger one you fumble.

Hi-Lo

Difficulty: Beginner · Level 1 · Balanced

Betting Correlation: 0.97

Playing Efficiency: 0.51

Best For: Almost everyone — the default first count

2,3,4,5,6 = +1 7,8,9 = 0 10,J,Q,K,A = -1

Hi-Opt I

Difficulty: Intermediate · Level 1 · Balanced

Betting Correlation: 0.88

Playing Efficiency: 0.61

Best For: Playing decisions; needs an ace side-count for betting

3,4,5,6 = +1 A,2,7,8,9 = 0 10,J,Q,K = -1

KO (Knock-Out)

Difficulty: Beginner · Level 1 · Unbalanced

Betting Correlation: 0.98

Playing Efficiency: 0.55

Best For: Anyone who wants to skip true-count division entirely

2,3,4,5,6,7 = +1 8,9 = 0 10,J,Q,K,A = -1

Unbalanced: start at an Initial Running Count of −4 × (decks − 1) and act on the running count alone. The pivot is always +4.

Red 7

Difficulty: Beginner · Level 1 · Unbalanced

Betting Correlation: 0.98

Playing Efficiency: 0.54

Best For: A first count with no division, if you can spot colour quickly

2,3,4,5,6 = +1 red 7 = +1, black 7 = 0, 8,9 = 0 10,J,Q,K,A = -1

Unbalanced: start at −2 × decks. The pivot is 0, so the betting rule is simply “is the count positive?”

Zen Count

Difficulty: Advanced · Level 2 · Balanced

Betting Correlation: 0.96

Playing Efficiency: 0.63

Best For: The usual step up from Hi-Lo — strong at both betting and playing

2,3,7 = +1 · 4,5,6 = +2 8,9 = 0 10,J,Q,K = -2 · A = -1

Difficulty: Advanced · Level 2 · Balanced

Hi-Opt II

Difficulty: Advanced · Level 2 · Balanced

Betting Correlation: 0.91

Playing Efficiency: 0.67

Best For: Experienced counters wanting Hi-Opt I with more resolution

2,3,6,7 = +1 · 4,5 = +2 A,8,9 = 0 10,J,Q,K = -2
